Bonus Lesson 2: Automate Savings

Homework:

  •  List out all your quarterly and annual expenses
    • Expense
    • Cost
    • Frequency- how many times a year you pay for it (annual = 1, quarterly = 4)
    • Next due date
    • Annual cost (cost * frequency)
  • Total up the annual cost for all your expenses
  • Decide how you want to save- monthly, bi-weekly or bi-monthly
    • monthly: divide total by 12
    • bi-weekly: divide total by 26
    • bi-monthly: divide total by 24
  • Open a savings account and set up your savings amount to transfer in automatically
  • Bonus: set up each expense amount to be auto transferred into your checking account a couple of days before it’s due and setup the expense to be paid automatically out of that checking account
